Electrical Utilities

MWG's flame-resistant (FR) clothing for electrical utilities and electrical contractors is built for the hazards of live electrical work — arc flash, flame, and low visibility. Browse arc-rated FR shirts, pants, coveralls, hoodies, and rainwear designed for linemen, powerline technicians, and electricians — third-party tested to the standards below that apply to each garment type.

Applicable standards

ASTM 1506

The core arc flash clothing standard. ASTM F1506 sets performance requirements for arc-rated FR shirts, pants, and coveralls. Compliant garments carry an arc rating in cal/cm².

NFPA 2112

The flash fire standard. NFPA 2112 sets design, performance, and certification requirements for FR clothing protecting against short-duration thermal exposures from fire.

CSA Z96

Canada's high-visibility standard. CSA Z96 specifies background colour, retroreflective striping, and garment classes that keep crews visible in any light, including under vehicle headlights.

ASTM 1891

The FR rainwear standard. ASTM F1891 sets minimum physical and thermal performance criteria for arc and flame-resistant rain jackets and pants.

ULC S801

Canada's electric utility workplace safety standard. CAN/ULC-S801 provides safety performance requirements for work on or near generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
