WHO WE ARE

The world's most comprehensive collection of arc-rated safety apparel.

  • Through proprietary flame-resistant fabric development and close relationships with professionals in the electrical utility industry, MWG has built a collection where every piece is designed with one mission: keep workers safe and comfortable. Our safety experts actively participate on CSA, CGSB, NFPA, and ASTM committees — we don't just meet standards, we help shape them.

WHAT DRIVES US

Three commitments, every garment.

Canadian heritage

Proudly made in Winnipeg since 1928. Unionized since 1947. Built for Canadian conditions, by Canadians.

Technical expertise

Proprietary FR fabrics, third-party tested. Active members on safety standards committees across North America.

Worker-first design

Developed with direct feedback from workers on fit, function, and performance. Safety and comfort are never a trade-off.
1928

Founded in Winnipeg, Manitoba

  • MWG Apparel begins operations, establishing roots in Canadian workwear manufacturing that would span nearly a century.

1947

Unionized under Workers United, Local 459

  • A lasting commitment to our people — MWG becomes a unionized employer, a status we've proudly maintained ever since.

2018

653 styles — and the decision to simplify

  • With 653 FR garment styles built from various external fabrics, we recognized the need to take control of our materials. In-house core fabric and style development begins.

2019

Proprietary FR fabric development

  • We invest in developing our own FR fabrics — purpose-built to deliver better performance to the Canadian utility industry with consistent, reliable deliveries.

2020 - 2021

Designing the core collection

  • Using proprietary fabrics and direct feedback from workers in the field, we design a focused core FR collection built around fit, function, and real-world performance.

2021 -2022

Telling the world who we are

  • We take MWG to market — Canadian utilities, mines, trade shows, safety committees, social media, and online advertising. Our identity as a safety-first technical apparel brand becomes public.

2023

Growing our customer base

  • New customers join core programs through safety committee relationships, trade show connections, word of mouth, and online marketing. Our reputation for quality and reliability continues to build.

2024

ISO 9001 certified

  • MWG achieves ISO 9001 — the internationally recognized standard for quality management systems. Formal recognition of the consistency, traceability, and continuous improvement built into every garment we produce.

2025

Ready for anything — on-shelf inventory for extreme conditions

  • On-shelf stock across four extreme weather categories so PPE is available the moment conditions get dangerous. No delays, no compromises.
